GEORGE S. FORD, PhD
George S. Ford is the founder and President/Chairman
of Applied Economic Studies, Inc. His areas of expertise are applied
microeconomics, applied econometrics, public policy, antitrust,
damages, and cost-benefit analysis.
Dr. Ford is the author of numerous research
papers and book chapters and has filed testimony before many state
regulatory commissions, the Federal Communications Commission,
the Copyright Royalty Judges, and international regulatory authorities.
His research has appeared in academic journals such as Journal
of Law and Economics, Journal of Business, Empirical Economics,
Journal of Regulatory Economics, Yale Journal on Regulation, Review
of Industrial Organization, among others.
Before founding Applied Economic Studies,
Dr. Ford worked at the Federal Communications Commission (Competition
Division), MCI Communications, and Z-Tel Communications. Dr. Ford
is the Chief Economist of The Phoenix Center for Advanced Legal
& Economic Public Policy Studies (www.phoenix-center.org),
and has authored or co-authored many of the Center’s Policy Papers,
Bulletins, and Perspectives. Dr. Ford is also an Adjunct Professor
at the Samford University. Dr.
Ford is currently the Chief Economist of the Phoenix Center for
Advanced Legal & Economic Public Policy Studies, a 501(c)(3)
research organization. As much of his work at the Phoenix Center
concerns telecommunications policy, Dr. Ford no longer acts as an
expert witness for, or serves as a consultant to, any telecommunications company.
Dr. Ford earned a PhD in Economics from
Auburn University in 1994.
